Training Sessions

I will be doing two more Brown Bag sessions which will be broadcast over the HITS network and eventually posted here.

Thursday 9/17 will do a general overview of eCAFE, followed by going through the staff site in detail. The goal of this session is to go through all the options the staff have on the site and cover them in detail.

Thursday 10/15 will also do a general overview of eCAFE, but will be followed by my going through the instructor portion of the site in detail. The goal here is to have this be a training session for instructors.

Participating Campuses

While we have some usage at all 10 campuses, those that are using eCAFE exclusively for Fall 2009 are as follows:

Hawai'i CC
Windward CC
UH West Oahu
Kaua'i CC
Maui CC

This will be the first semester for Maui and Kaua'i. Here's hoping for a smooth transition to eCAFE!

Summer Session

You may have noticed that I posted a tentative summer session schedule two posts ago. We are planning on doing a pilot test of the summer session this Summer (2009). If you'd like your organization to participate in the pilot test, please contact us at cafe-support-l@hawaii.edu.

Brown Bags

I did a Brown Bags talk today, titled "An Introduction to eCAFE." It was recorded, so when that's ready, I'll post a link to the video here along with a link to the slides. The presentation itself was fairly short, around 12 minutes, but this was followed by roughly 30 minutes of questions.

One of the questions was pertaining to instructors who want to use the system, but their organization (campus/college/dept/etc) isn't signed up. The answer is that any instructor is free to log in during the instructor open period and enable their surveys. By default, instructors in participating organizations are already enabled, but if you aren't in one, we disable your surveys so you don't get an unpleasant surprise. All you have to do is click the "Enable" button next to your survey, and then add questions, and you're all set.
